OpenSea.io is the largest NFT marketplace on Ethereum in terms of sales and users. The marketplace was created in 2017 and today offers trading of all types of NFTs including collectibles, art, domain names, music, photography and virtual land.
Blur.io describes itself as the NFT marketplace for professional traders and was started to develop a fast platform for NFT trading. Blur is a combined marketplace and aggregator that enables buying and selling of NFTs across several different NFT marketplaces.
LooksRare.org is a competitor to OpenSea which was launched in January 2022 along with an airdrop of the marketplace's own token, LOOKS, to anyone who had traded NFTs on OpenSea during a specific period. Users are today rewarded with small amounts of cryptocurrency when they trade on the platform.

Foundation.app is similar to SuperRare a platform and NFT marketplace focusing on providing creators the opportunity to sell 1/1 artwork. Creators also have the opportunity to create open editions. Previously, creators had to be invited by creators already established on Foundation in order to publish their art on the platform. Nowadays, anyone is allowed to issue NFTs representing artwork, on Foundation.
Rarible.com is an NFT marketplace designed to sell both 1/1 artwork and larger collections. The marketplace has its own token, RARE.
NiftyGateway.com, is owned by the crypto exhcange Gemini and is an NFT marketplace and a platform where selected creators sell their work. Nifty Gateway differs from other marketplaces in that they offer a custodial platform.
The custodial platform means that the NFTs on their platform are stored in a custodial wallet, which is operated by Gemini and enables NFT collectors to buy, sell and transfer NFTs without the cost normally incurred when transacting on the blockchain.
KnownOrigin.io is one of the earliest NFT marketplaces, founded in 2018 and acquired by eBay in 2022. Creators apply to sell artwork through the platform.
Async.art is an NFT marketplace focusing on programmable art. Each artwork consists of a master and a layer; a master is a single NFT while layers are separate elements that can be modified and together make up the master. As a collector, you can own different layers and contribute to transforming the artwork over time.
